- Q. What Is Royalty-Free Music?
A. Avoid copyright infringement and confusing licensing! There's a better solution: royalty-free music. Instead of paying a royalty per use or illegally using copyrighted music in your productions, you can order music from us so you can easily and legally add music to your productions. When you order Media Music Services's music, we issue a license that grants you unlimited use for 99 years. This form of licensing allows you to make use of the music as many times as you like for a one time charge. Your license covers uses for video, internet, most films as well multimedia, television, radio and satellite broadcast. So, avoid the hassles of messy, confusing, and legal licensing issues by ordering royalty-free music from Media Music Services.
- Q. Does Royalty-Free mean the same thing as "Copyright Free"?
A. No. Media Music Services maintains the copyrights of its songs and the recordings. However, your license constitutes a full use of the music under our guidelines. Once issued a license, you will be able to use the tracks for a lifetime of 99 years.
- Q. What rights am I "buying out" when I purchase Royalty-Free Music?
A. Basically there are three rights you need for audio/video uses: Mechanical, Synchronization and
Public Performance. The mechanical right lets you re-record the music from your purchased CD.
The synchronization right lets you put the music into time relationship with a picture. And the public performance right allows you to transmit the music by means of broadcast. Our license covers mechanical and synchronization rights for almost all uses. However, broadcasters who have accounts with BMI should handle the usage rights of the music through their BMI contracts if your product is to be broadcasted. We request that you list Media Music Services on your cue sheets when presenting your work to broadcasters. If you need additional cue sheets, we can supply them for you. Keep in mind that you will you will never have to pay any more fees as producer when using our music under our license.
- Q. What if my friend at another facility asks if he can use the music?
A. Our license is for use only at one site. In other words, your license is non-transferrable to any other person.
You may not lend, share or distribute the music. Your license is granted to one individual business and site.
- Q. Can I charge my clients a fee for the Music?
A. You can charge your clients for the music you include in their projects as long as you also add
other audio and/or visual elements. In most cases, our customers pay off their music purchase with one production!
- Q. Can I use the music in a commercially available audio recording or visual release (a CD,
Cassette, Video Cassette, etc.)?
A. Yes, when the music is combined with other audio and/or visual elements added by you, the
Licensee, and when the music is not a feature of any such project or product but rather a
background or an incidental element.
- Q. Are theatrical motion pictures covered by the Media Music Services' License?
A. No, but this use is available with an additional license.
- Q. What if the Media Music Services' License changes?
A. Licenses for future products may change. However, the music that you purchase will
accompany a written license and will never change after you fully purchase the CD.
- Q. What if I don't like the music I ordered? Can I return it?
A. For our current promotion, all sales and licenses are final.
- Q. When do I recieve the license to use my music?
A. You will receive the license along with your CD's.
- Q. Who are your composers? We would like to hire them for our work.
A. We have a number of composers we work with. If you are interested in working with them, please
contact us. They are available for customized work as well.
